What the valuation shows

The full history check includes a valuation of the car at its mileage, so you know what it's worth before you buy or sell:

  • The private sale price, from average to clean condition
  • What a dealer would typically ask on the forecourt
  • Part exchange and trade values
  • What it would fetch at auction
  • What it cost when new

Most reports include a valuation, but not all. Some cars, such as rare or very old models, can't be valued reliably because there isn't enough pricing data for them. If a car can't be valued, the rest of the report is unaffected.

No sales calls, no inbox full of offers

Some online car buyers offer a free valuation, then follow it up with emails, texts and calls for weeks, trying to buy the car. We won't send you endless follow-up emails pressuring you to sell your car, and we never sell your details.

More than a price

A valuation assumes the car's history is clean. The full history check also tells you whether there's finance owing, whether it's been written off or stolen, and whether the mileage adds up, and each of those changes what a car is really worth.

The valuation is part of the full history check (£9.99).

Questions

Can I value my own car before I sell it?

Yes. Enter your registration and choose the full history check. You'll also know what a buyer's own check will find.

How accurate is the valuation?

It's a guide from industry pricing data for cars of the same model, age and mileage. Condition, service history and options all affect the price, so use it as a starting point for agreeing a price.

Is a valuation in the MOT and tax check?

No. The valuation is only in the full history check.
